Summer will be shortly upon us in SW Florida and with it comes HOT temps and afternoon storms. Most of our seasonal shooters have returned up north, so expect match attendance to drop off slightly over the next few months. Couple of things to remember: bring your own water, sunscreen, and bug spray and watch the weather. We always try to cancel matches if the weather looks bad, but don’t count on an e-mail, just watch the weather and make your own decision.
Always try to get to a match early to help set-up, and plan to stay until everything is broken down. We are lucky to have several individuals who volunteer their time to get our matches set-up and make our stages fun to shoot, let’s make the job easier by everyone pitching in whenever we can.
Help keep our match fees down by conserving targets, pasters, and props. If a target isn’t all shot up, it goes back into the range house for re-use. Take what pasters you need to reset a stage and try not to waste them. Take care of our props, especially our walls, put them back where they belong, and try not to set up stages where they are in danger of will getting shot up. The new steel and movers go back into the shed after every match. Timers, buckets, etc. should always be returned to the range house after a squad has finished shooting. We expect every shooter to pick up after themselves and not leave trash on our range.
Have a safe summer, see you on the range,
David Jenkins
